Application Scenarios and Functions of Pyrite Lumps For Casting Shop
Gray Cast Iron (Most Commonly Used)
Functions: Improve machinability, optimize graphite morphology, reduce chill tendency, and enhance fluidity.
Typical castings: Machine tool beds, boxes, bases, pump bodies, valve bodies, engine cylinder blocks.
Sulfur content control: 0.06%–0.12% (optimal range).
Ductile Iron (Nodular Iron)
Functions: Assist inoculation, improve machinability, and stabilize microstructure.
Note: Sulfur content must be kept low (<0.03%); only small‑scale sulfur supplementation is applied, not heavy addition.
Typical castings: Crankshafts, gears, hubs, heavy‑section ductile iron components.
Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI)
Functions: Stabilize compacted graphite formation, improve machinability, and reduce shrinkage porosity.
Typical castings: Cylinder heads, exhaust pipes, brake discs.
Wear‑Resistant Cast Iron / Alloy Cast Iron
Functions: Form sulfide hard phases to enhance wear resistance and anti‑seizure properties.
Typical castings: Liners, grinding balls, guide rails, wear‑resistant sleeves.
Cast Steel (Minor Application)
Functions: Improve machinability, refine grains, and reduce hot cracking.
Typical castings: Free‑machining cast steel parts, gears, shafts.
