Flotation pyrite concentrate is high‑grade pyrite purified by mineral processing (FeS₂ content usually ≥45%, low impurities, high grade). Compared with ordinary pyrite powder, it has higher purity and more stable performance, and plays a more prominent role in sulfuric acid production, non‑ferrous metal roasting, grinding wheel filling, and wastewater treatment. Sulfuric Acid Production (Core Application)
Raw material for acid making: Roasted at high temperature to produce SO₂ (core reaction: 4FeS₂ + 11O₂ = 2Fe₂O₃ + 8SO₂), serving as the main sulfur source for contact sulfuric acid production with low cost and high sulfur utilization.
Stable furnace conditions: High purity and uniform composition ensure stable heat release during roasting, avoiding furnace temperature fluctuations and guaranteeing continuous and efficient operation of the acid‑making system.
By‑product utilization: The roasted iron concentrate (cinder) contains ≥55% iron and can be directly used as ironmaking raw material, realizing comprehensive utilization of sulfur and iron resources.
Non‑ferrous Metal Roasting (Copper, Zinc, Lead Smelting)
Efficient slag formation and fluxing: High‑purity FeS₂ provides sufficient Fe and S, quickly forming highly fluid fayalite slag with SiO₂, strengthening slag‑metal separation and improving metal recovery.
Synergistic desulfurization/sulfidation: Acts as a sulfidizing agent to decompose refractory substances such as zinc ferrite in zinc calcine, increasing zinc leaching rate; also assists in removing harmful impurities (e.g., arsenic, antimony) from ores.
Energy‑saving temperature control: Sufficient heat release during roasting reduces fuel consumption in smelting and stabilizes furnace temperature and reaction atmosphere.
Grinding Wheel Filler (Industrial Abrasives)
Performance enhancement: High purity and uniform particle size strengthen hardness, wear resistance, and heat resistance of grinding wheels as inert filler, prolonging service life; reduces resin binder dosage and production cost.
Lubrication and wear reduction: Lubricity of sulfur in the concentrate reduces friction heat and wheel loss during grinding, improving grinding precision and stability.
Environmental safety: Low impurities lead to less harmful gas emission at high temperatures, suitable for manufacturing high‑end resin and ceramic grinding wheels.
Environmental Wastewater Treatment
Efficient denitrification (autotrophic denitrification): Highly active S²⁻/Fe²⁺ serve as electron donors to rapidly reduce NO₃⁻ in wastewater to N₂ without external carbon sources, suitable for denitrification of industrial and municipal wastewater with low C/N ratio.
Deep heavy metal removal: Stable release of S²⁻ under acidic conditions forms highly insoluble sulfide precipitates with Cu²⁺, Pb²⁺, Cd²⁺, Hg²⁺, etc., achieving heavy metal removal rate ≥99%.
Simultaneous purification: Synergistically removes phosphorus and partial organic matter in wastewater with low sludge yield and more stable effluent quality.
